In 2014 and 2015, we worked in partnership with City of Edinburgh Council and operated the Edinburgh Festival Fringe outdoor advertising scheme. The Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world and we created 1,100 temporary advertising sites across the city centre. We transformed the existing scheme into a transparent and fair marketing channel that was accessible to all Fringe participants, regardless of budget size. We designed, built, installed, maintained and removed all structures within agreed timescales. A key element of the scheme was removing flyposting, stickers and graffiti near all our advertising sites – this was successful undertaken with over 2,000 items removed or cleaned and the result was a huge reduction in flyposting year on year and a vastly improved appearance in Edinburgh city centre. It is estimated we saved the council in excess of £100,000 in street cleaning activity though our involvement in operating the scheme.
