The Lord Mayor of Bristol’s Children’s Appeal is a registered charity that raises money all year round to help the city’s most disadvantaged children and young people at Christmas. It’s been going since the 1920s, when funds would provide a pair of boots and a meal to each child it supported. 100 years later, Bristol is one of the most expensive cities to live in the UK and unfortunately there is still a shockingly high number of people struggling with serious economic hardship. In areas such as Lawrence Hill, for example, over 60% of children are living in poverty.

One of the appeal’s primary fundraising avenues is an annual Gala Dinner, which helps to raise £82,500 for 1,650 vulnerable children in the form of vouchers for gifts, clothing and food every Christmas. We provided the printed brochures for this year’s gala, which took place on the 28th March. Hosted by BBC radio presenter Paris Troy and comedian Andy Ford, the evening’s entertainment includes a three course meal with wine, a magician, charity casino, auction and raffle. There are many other ways you can support the appeal, from donating and fundraising to volunteering - find out more here
